Brazil is offering to cut its carbon emissions by a third by the year 2020. The non-binding target puts pressure on industrial nations to reveal their plans ahead of December's United Nations climate change summit in Copenhagen. Brazilian officials hope they can reduce their emission with the current government programme to slow deforestation in the Amazon. If Brazil manages to meet its pledge the Green House gas emissions would be close to their 1994 levels. <br/>
