In Brazil, the death toll from flooding and mudslides in the state of Rio de Janeiro has risen to 214. <br/><br/>The fire department today said most of the deaths happened in Niteroi, just across the bay from the city of Rio. <br/><br/>At least 134 people died there, while 60 died in the city of Rio de Janeiro. Some 15,000 people have been left homeless from the floods and mudslides, which began with heavy rain on Tuesday.<br/>
