Brazil knocked out of Copa America in group stages

Brazil have been knocked out in the group stages of the Copa America football tournament. In their Group B match at Gillette Stadium in Massachusets in the United States, Brazil lost to Peru by a solitary goal on Sunday. Peru has not beaten Brazil in 31 years. The result means the host team, USA, face Ecuador in the next round, while Peru take on Colombia. The five-time World Champions Brazil were favoured to win its group and progress comfortably to the quarter-finals. However, coach Dunga will have reason to be aggrieved, as replays showed Peru's Raul Ruidiaz had handed the ball into the net for the game's only goal. While Brazil are currently the tournament's joint top scorers alongside Argentina, all seven of their goals came in one game, against a lowly Haiti. In their other two matches, they failed to break down Peru and Ecuador.
