Brazil elects Dilma Rousseff its first woman President

Brazil's Presidential election has been won by the candidate of the governing Workers' Party, Dilma Rousseff who becomes the country's first woman President. The electoral authority said Ms. Rousseff won around 55 per cent of the vote against just under 44 per cent for her rival Jose Serra. Ms Rousseff, 62, who had never before held elected office, becomes the country's first woman president. She has promised to continue policies that have fostered years of strong economic growth.
