In Uttar Pradesh, the deadly encephalitis – commonly known as brain fever- has claimed 254 lives in Gorakhpur and Basti divisions this year with five more deaths in Gorakhpur. Sixteen deaths are reported in other districts of both the divisions during last 36 hours. AIR Gorakhpur correspondent reports, 325 patients of brain fever are undergoing treatment in different hospitals of the eastern region. More than fifty children have succumbed to the viral brain fever in flood-torn western and Terai districts of the state during current monsoon.
