<br/>CWG 2014: Dipika Pallikal, Joshana Chinappa win historic gold

India won 10 medals — 1 Gold, 5 Silver and 4 Bronze — on the penultimate day of the Glasgow Commonwealth Games yesterday, taking their overall tally to 14 Gold, 28 Silver and 19 Bronze. Pugilists Vijender Singh, Manpreet Jangra, Devendro Laishram and Laishram Devi settled for Silver medals as the Indian boxers ended their campaign without a Gold.Dipika Pallikal and Joshana Chinappa bagged India&apos;s maiden Gold medal in Squash, when they defeated the English team of Jenny Duncalf and Laura Massaro, 2-0 to win the Women&apos;s Doubles final.Powerlifting saw India clinch a Silver and Bronze. While Sakina Khatun won the Bronze in the Lightweight category, Rajinder Rahelu clinched the Silver in the Men&apos;s Heavyweight section.In Badminton, P. Kashyap and the pair of Jwala Gutta and Ashwini Ponnappa stormed into the finals assuring two Silver medals for India. They will play their final matches today. PV Sindhu and RMV Gurusaidutt, who failed to make it to the finals, settled for a Bronze each after they won their third position matches.The Men&apos;s Hockey team also assured India of a Silver medal. In the semi-finals, they defeated New Zealand, 3-2. For the Gold medal, they will take on Australia today. All India Radio will broadcast live commentary on the match from 4:40 PM onwards.In Athletics, India clinched a Bronze through Arpinder Singh who finished third in Men&apos;s Triple Jump.Jamaica again ruled the tracks. Besides winning the Gold, they created new Commonwealth Games records in the Men&apos;s and Women&apos;s 4X100 metres relay, and Women&apos;s 4X400 metres relay. Jamaica&apos;s Men&apos;s 100 metre relay team comprised super speedster Usain Bolt, with the Women&apos;s team having the likes of Shelly-Ann Fraser Pryce.
