Both Houses of Parliament were adjourned till Monday as Opposition continued to stall the proceedings on demonetisation despite government reiterating that it is ready for a debate. <br/><br/>The Lok Sabha could not take up listed business today following opposition uproar over demonetisation. When the House met at noon after first adjournment, Speaker Sumitra Mahajan disallowed the opposition adjournment motions on various issues. <br/><br/>Not satisfied, opposition members including Congress,TMC and Left Parties trooped into the well shouting slogans against the government. However, the House took up Zero Hour mentions amidst noisy scenes. Later, the House was adjourned for the day. <br/>In the Rajya Sabha, opposition members demanded that Prime Minister should be present in the House and apologize for his reported remarks against them on demonetization. This was responded by BJP members by counter slogans.<br/><br/>When Chairman Hamid Ansari tried to take up Question Hour, opposition members trooped into the well. Mr Ansari observed that the agitating members should raise slogans on the streets and not in the House. When the House reassembled post noon, AIADMK members trooped into the well demanding withdrawal of disinvestment plan of Salem Steel Plant. <br/><br/>Deputy Chairman Prof PJ Kurien adjourned the House till Monday as noisy scenes prevailed.It was straight 12th working day that business in the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha remained paralyzed with standoff between the government and Opposition on scrapping of high currency notes. <br/><br/>So far, only Taxation Laws Amendment Bill has been passed in the Lok Sabha amid din. Half of the session has been washed out and still there seems no sign of thaw with the two sides sticking to their stands.<br/><br/> Each passing day, the opposition led by Congress is changing its goal post to corner the government though the latter is open for discussion on any issue. <br/><br/> Several important legislations including three bills related to GST are required to be passed during the remaining part of the current session to ensure implementation of new tax regime from 1st of April next year. <br/><br/>Earlier, the government made it clear in both the Houses that there was no political motive behind deployment of Army at toll plazas in West Bengal and it was an annual routine exercise being carried in the North-East since last month. <br/><br/>Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar in the Lok Sabha and Minister of State for Defence,Dr Subhash Ramrao Bhamre in the Rajya Sabha refuted Opposition's charges that the state authorities were not informed about Army Deployment. The ministers requested Opposition not to drag Army into controversy.
