Farmers agitation and police action against them in Uttar Pradesh rocked both Houses of Parliament on Monday. Both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha which witnessed pandemonium over the issue were adjourned three times each and finally for the day. AIR correspondent reports that the Opposition parties were pressing for an Amendment Bill to ensure adequate compensation to farmers whose land is acquired for government projects.
