Both the Houses of Parliament were adjourned for the day today on demonetisation issue with the opposition parties sticking to their demands.<br/><br/>In the Rajya Sabha, Congress members forced its adjournment for the day on demonetisation issue. The House witnessed two adjournments before adjourning finally for the day at 2.30 PM. Congress members continued to disrupt the proceedings of the House demanding the Prime Minister's presence during the discussion on demonetisation.<br/><br/>When the House reassembled at 2PM after its second adjournment, Naresh Agarwal of Samajwadi Party, suggested to the Chair to set up a committee comprising Rajya Sabha members to look into whether Money Bills can also be introduced in the Upper House. He was supported by Rajeev Shukla of the Congress and Ram Gopal Yadav of Samajwadi Party.<br/><br/>Responding to this, Deputy Chairman Prof. PJ Kurien asked the members to raise the matter during Private Members Business. However, the agitating Congress members again trooped into the well raising slogans against the government.<br/><br/>The BJP members raised counter slogans forcing the Deputy Chairman to adjourn the House for the day.<br/><br/>The Lok Sabha witnessed two adjournments before noon. As soon as the House met for the day, Congress, TMC and NCP members trooped into the well of the House demanding suspension of the Question Hour to discuss the issue.<br/><br/>Speaker Sumitra Mahajan adjourned the House till 11.30 AM. As the House met after its second adjournment, there was no change in the situation. She adjourned the House again till 2 PM. As the House met at 2pm, the Speaker again adjourned the House till 2.30 pm, later adjourning the House for the day after it passed the Taxation Laws (second amendment) Bill 2016.
