Congress-led opposition stalled the proceedings in both the Houses of Parliament over the demonetization issue for the second day in a row today as the Lok Sabha adjourned for the day without transacting any legislative business following continued uproar while the Rajya Sabha witnessed repeated disruptions before being adjourned for the day at 3 PM.<br/><br/>When the Rajya Sabha met after lunch at 2.30pm, pandemonium continued over the issue of demonetisation, forcing Deputy Chairman P J Kurien to adjourn it for the day. The House witnessed heated exchanges between the treasury bench members and Congress.<br/><br/>BJP members stuck to their stand for an apology by Congress and its leader Ghulam Nabi Azad over his remarks on Uri terror attack and comparing death figures with alleged deaths due to demonetization.<br/><br/>They were on their feet protesting against Mr Azad's remark. Amid noisy scenes, Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said there is a nation-wide outrage over the remark.<br/><br/>Earlier, when the House met for the day, AIADMK members trooped into the well in support of their demand for setting up of Cauvery Management Board. Amidst pandemonium, the House took up private members business at 2.30 PM. Independent MP Rajeev Chandrasekhar moved a bill to declare any country as state sponsor of terrorism and withdraw economic and trade relations with such countries.<br/><br/>As soon as the Lok Sabha reassembled at noon after first adjournment, members from Congress, Left, SP, RJD and others trooped into the well shouting slogans against the government decision on demonetization.<br/><br/>Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge urged the Speaker Sumitra Mahajan to suspend the business to discuss the issue accepting the adjournment motion . He was demanding discussion under the rule which entails voting.<br/><br/>Intervening, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ananth Kumar said the government is ready to discuss the issue under rule 193 which does not have voting provisions.<br/><br/>Amid the opposition disruptions, some MPs from treasury benches also shouted slogans against Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad for his remarks.The Speaker tried to conduct the Zero Hour business.Some members raised the matters of urgent public importance before the adjournment of the House for the day.
