Both Houses of Parliament adjourned for day over Lalit Modi issue & Vyapam scam

Both the Houses of Parliament have been adjourned for the day over Lalit Modi controvarsy and Vyapam scam. Earlier, the Lok Sabha was adjourned for the second time till 2 PM amid slogan shouting by opposition members who continued demanding the resignation of External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj in the Lalit Modi controversy and on other issues. After its first adjournment, when the House re-assembled at noon, Speaker Sumitra Mahajan gave a stern warning that disciplinary action will be taken if the agitating members display placards. She urged the members should observe Parliamentary decorum. But her warning had no effect . <br/><br/>Defying her diktat, the Congress-led opposition members again trooped into the well displaying placards which called for the resignations of Ms Swaraj and the Chief Ministers of Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. Members belonging to the Telangana Rashtra Samithi displayed placards demanding a separate High Court for Telangana. Congress members were also wearing black ribbons. Amidst continuing uproar, the Speaker adjourned the House till 2 PM and later for the day.<br/><br/>Scene were no different in Rajya Sabha also and the House was adjourned till 2 PM amid unprecedented uproar on Lalit Modi controversy. The House witnessed four adjournments in the pre-lunch session. The issue figured for the second day with both the opposition and the government sticking to their stands. The Congress-led opposition demanded that nothing short of the resignation of External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, will satisfy them. Responding to this, Leader of the House, Arun Jaitley insisted that a discussion should first take place. <br/><br/>Amidst noisy scenes, the House was adjourned twice for 15 minutes each. Deputy Chairman Prof. P J Kurien asked the opposition why there should be a ruling on their motions if there is no discussion. When the House re-assembled after third adjournment at 1230 hours, Leader of the House Arun Jaitley asked the opposition not to indulge in slogan-shouting and come to discussion on the issue.
