Repeated adjournments and uproar disrupted the proceedings in Parliament consecutively for the 21st working day today over the opposition demand for a JPC probe into the 2G spectrum scam. Both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha were first adjourned for an hour till noon. They were again adjourned for the second time, the Lok Sabha till 3.30 PM and the Rajya Sabha till 2.30 PM after laying of papers. With both the opposition and the government adamant on their positions with regard to the JPC demand, the standoff on the issue has continued. The government has rejected the demand saying that it is politically motivated. The opposition, however, said that it will not accept anything short of a JPC probe.Meanwhile, the Congress has rejected the opposition charge that the announcement of one man inquiry to probe spectrum allocation tent amounts to breach of privilege as it has been done while Parliament is in session. Party spokesman Manish Tewari said that as the opposition is not letting the Houses run and therefore it has no choice but to announce such decisions outside parliament. On the other hand, the opposition insisted that since the inquiry is to be conducted by a Supreme Court retired Judge it cannot be termed as an administrative inquiry. BJP leader Murli Manohar Joshi said that the manner in which the announcement was made invites breach of privilege. The Samajwadi Party leader Mohan Singh also expressed similar sentiments. The CPM leader Brinda Karat alleged that the government had adopted an unreasonable approach on the opposition demand for JPC probe.
