Both houses of Parl adjourned till Monday over Telangana and Tamil fishermen issues

The Lok Sabha has been adjourned for the day. Rajya Sabha too has adjourned for the day. Earlier, both the Houses witnessed brief adjournments on several issues including Telangana.

When the Lok Sabha re-assembled at noon after an hour-long adjournment, members from both the regions of Andhra Pradesh, rushed to the well. Waving placards either in favour or against Telangana, they raised slogans. Members from Tamil Nadu also trooped into the well demanding the release of Tamil Fishermen arrested by the Sri Lankan Navy.

Samajwadi Party members were seen in the well demanding the inclusion of some backward castes in the list of Scheduled Castes. Some of the Shiromani Akali Dal members were on their feet raising the issue of 1984 riots in Delhi. As noisy scenes continued, Speaker Meira Kumar adjourned the House till Monday.

The Rajya Sabha was adjourned for the day on Telangana and Tamil fishermen issues. When the House reassembled in the afternoon after two adjournments, members from Tamil Nadu trooped into the well and demanded the release of Tamil fishermen arrested by the Sri Lankan Navy.

The deputy chairman Prof P J Kurien said the whole House condemns the arrest of Tamil fishermen but the issue can not be taken up since the time is meant for private members' legislative business. At the same time, Y Sujana Choudhary and C M Ramesh of the TDP rushed to the podium and raised slogans in support of united Andhra. Prof Kurien appealed to the agitated members to allow him take up the listed business but in vain. Amidst din, he adjourned the House till Monday.
