Both the Houses of the Karnataka Legislature were adjourned sine die today amidst dharna and slogan shouting by the opposition members. <br/><br/>The tumultuous session which began on June 28, was to end on July 28. Both the Houses passed eleven bills today, including the Karnataka Lokayukta (Amendment) Bill 2010, which confer upon the Lokayukta suo-motu power to hold investigation on the public servants, including Chief Secretary, Addtional Chief Sectretary, Principal Secretary and Secretary-II to the Government. <br/><br/>The all important Supplementary estimates and the grants for the demands made under various departments were also passed today. Opposition members, wearing black scarf, tore the copies of the bills moved and shouted against the government attitude in passing the bills without discussion. <br/><br/>Earlier in the day the Chief Minister Yeddyurappa met Governor Hans Raj Bharadwaj and briefed him about steps taken by the Government to strengthen Lokayuktha and steps initiated to curtail illegal mining.<br/><br/>He also apprised him about reasons why his Government refused to yield to the Opposition demand for a CBI probe against illegal mining and assured that speedy investigation by Lokayuktha will help mitigate the menace of illegal mining.
