Both the houses were adjourned till 12 noon following slogan shouting on the FDI in retail issue. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kamal Nath has said the Government is open for a discussion on the issue of FDI in multi-brand retail. Speaking to reporters outside Parliament House a short while ago, he said the primary concern is that the House must be allowed to function.
Insisting that the Government will try to arrive at a convergence during the all-party meeting convened by him later in the day, Mr. Kamal Nath, however, did not commit whether the Government was open to discussion under Rule 184 which entails voting.
On DMK's reluctance on the FDI in retail issue, Mr. Kamal Nath said that he was not worried. The Parliamentary Affairs Minister said major parties including the DMK were concerned on the charges made by former CAG official RP Singh on the auditor's report on the Telecom 2G auction. Mr. Nath said it was up to the Speaker to decide on taking up the discussion in the House.
