Bopanna-Qureshi duo enter UP Open Doubles final

Congratulating Rohan Bopanna and Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi for reaching the US Open men's doubles final, Sports Minister M S Gill today said the pair's success should lead to better sporting ties between India and Pakistan. He said, if Bopanna and Qureshi can play together, why cannot India and Pakistan? Mr. Gill said Bopanna and Qureshi, nicknamed the 'Indo-Pak Express', have shown great understanding on court to achieve success.The minister expressed the confidence that the duo will achieve the sub-continent dream finally. Meanwhile, Rohan Bopanna and his Pakistani partner Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi hope to see the players from two countries facing off in a tennis match on the border.Bopanna and Qureshi have entered the US Open finals and were cheered by the United Nations ambassadors from theircountries during the semifinal win over Argentines Eduardo Schwank and Horacio Zeballos. Bopanna said, to do well in the big events is the only way to pass on the message of friendship. Qureshi too was elated and said it just feels like that doing well on thebigger circuit and the bigger level is getting the message across throughout the world and among all the Pakistanis and Indians. Qureshi said, if he and Rohan can get along so well on and off the court, there's no reason the Indians and Pakistanis can't get along with each other. He said he felt really good seeing both Indian and Pakistani ambassadors sitting together and cheering for the same team.
