Boost economy through Intn'l trade: DoNer Min Ghatowar tells NE

The Union Minister for Development of the North Eastern Region (DoNER), Paban Singh Ghatowar today said the North Eastern Region should boost its economy by trading with neighbouring countries. Ghatowar said the region could provide ample opportunities for international trade, as it shares the border with China in the North and Myanmar in the East. Ghatowar said that India’s Look East Policy has started bearing fruit due to the continuing dialogue and trade with China, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Thailand and other countries of ASEAN. He said this, while inaugurating a workshop “North East Development Paradigms” organized in Shillong today.
The Minister also informed that the Centre's national project under the North East Rail Development Fund like the Dimapur-Zubza (Kohima) new line project , Dhola Sadia Bridge project, Bogibeel Rail cum Road Bridge over Bramhaputra, Jiribam – Imphal Road new line could play a major role in addressing connectivity issues in the North Eastern Region.
