A two week training course in Book publishing began at Panaji in Goa today. Chairman of Goa Kala Academy Mr. Vishnu Wagh inaugurated the course Organized jointly by National Book Trust, India, New Delhi in association with Directorate of Art and Culture, Krishnadas Shama Goa State Central Library and Goa Konkani Academy for imparting in-depth knowledge of editing, production, marketing, sales promotion, electronic publishing, finance, copyright and related issues. Speaking on the occasion Shri Vishnu Surya Wagh stressed the need to develop reading culture among the younger generation to develop their personalities. He reviewed the book writings and publishing techniques and told the concerned book writers and publishing agencies to keep a breast with advanced technology and IT field which he said would help to strengthen book printing and publishing industry. Shri Sridhar Balan, Resource Person, briefed about history of book and journal publishing in India and stressed the need to inculcate the importance of reading of library books, journal among the children to enrich their knowledge. He also told the parents to visit library along with their children so as to encourage them to read books.
