Bombay HC upholds Sessions Court verdict convicting Abdul Rauf for offence of murder of Gulshan Kumar

<span style="color: #222222;">The Bombay High Court today upheld the Sessions Court verdict convicting Abdul Rauf alias Dawood Merchant for the offence of murder of T-series founder, Gulshan Kumar.<br />''<br />''A Bench of Justices S.S. Jadhav and N.R. Borkar, however, reversed Rauf's conviction for the offence of robbery. Rauf had been charged with murder and robbery.<br />''<br />''The sentence of life imprisonment imposed by the Sessions Judge on Rauf, was also upheld with the Court clarifying that Rauf won't be entitled to remission.<br />''<br />''The Bench noted that the appellant had been absconding soon after the incident which took place in 1997 and could only be arrested in 2001. He was subsequently enlarged on furlough in 2009 and re-arrested in 2016.<br />''<br />''The court was also hearing an appeal filed by the Maharashtra Government challenging the acquittal of two other accused – Bollywood producer Ramesh Taurani and Abdul Rashid.<br />''<br />''The court upheld the acquittal of Taurani. However, the acquittal order against Abdul Rashid was reversed to conviction and he was sentenced to life imprisonment.</span><br />
