The Bombay High Court today took suo moto cognizance of the building collapse in Bhiwandi town of Maharashtra's Thane district and described it as a very serious incident.<br />'' <br />''A bench led by Chief Justice Dipankar Datta made the state of Maharashtra, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, and civic bodies of Bhiwandi-Nizampur, Kalyan-Dombivali,Thane and Navi Mumbai as respondents in the case.<br />'' <br />''Chief Justice Datta directed Advocate General Ashutosh Kumbhakoni to ensure the state and the civic bodies filed their replies to the notices in two weeks.<br />'' <br />''AIR correspondent reports, three days after the building collapse in Mumbai's Bhiwandi area, the National Disaster Response Force called off the rescue operation this morning at 11;45 am.<br />'' <br />''The NDRF team recovered a total of 41 bodies from the debris and rescued nearly 25 people in this operation.<br />'' <br />''Out of the 41 dead bodies pulled out, 18 were children including 3 toddlers.<br />'' <br />''<span style="color: #222222;">Meanwhile, a case has been registered against the owner of the building and two civic officials have been suspended in relation to this building collapse. </span>
