The Bombay high court on Tuesday revoked the ban on sand mining. Court has also ordered that the mining should not be deeper than 2 meters anywhere at land, river and creek bank. The high court bench of Justice B. H. Marlaparle and Justice U. D. Salvi expressed satisfaction on Maharashtra Government’s new policy on sand mining.The Bombay high Court had banned sand mining in Maharashtra and had also directed in the last month to come up with a new policy for sand mining considering the environmental issues.
