Bombay HC directs Aviation Minister to frame policy of naming airports and submit current status

<span style="color: #222222;">Bombay High Court has directed the Aviation Minister to frame the policy of naming the airports and submit the current status if any draft in this regard is pending.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"> </span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">HC is hearing a PIL on violation of COVID-19 norms during protest in Navi Mumbai area where naming of a new airport has been in controversy and witnessing huge protest from local villagers.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"> </span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">A bench led by Chief Justice Dipankar Datta hearing PIL seeking direction to Centre to frame policy for naming and renaming of airports and not to act on states' proposals for the same, including upcoming Navi Mumbai International airport until policy is framed.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"> </span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">HC directed the Centre that the court would like to know the present position of draft policy. Over this small issue of naming, we took the state govt to task as there was a gathering violating COVID protocols with nearly 25,000 people.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"> </span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">HC also directed the Centre that if there is a new policy still in the draft stage, get it done now, before the new Aviation Minister looks into it.</span><br />''  <br />
