The Bombay High Court today deferred the hearing in the Adarsh Society scam till next month. However, the division bench of Justices Ranjana Desai and R G Ketkar directed the CBI to record the statements of suspects regardless of their status. Hearing a petition in this regard,the court asked the CBI to conduct an independent probe and not shy away from questioning Shushil Kumar Shinde and Ashok Chavan, if they think it is necessary. Meanwhile, the court rapped the CBI for neglecting the probe into the files related to Adarsh that have gone missing from the Urban Development Department. The court directed the CBI to submit another progress report in this regard by June 22. In a related development, the court dismissed an application filed by one of Adarsh’s members, retired Brigadier A C Chopra seeking restoration of electricity and water supply to the building.
