Bombay HC convicts doctor for causing death of patient

The Bombay High Court today convicted Mumbai based medical practitioner, Dr. Sharad Shah for causing death by negligence under section 304 A of Indian Penal Code. Justice KU Chandiwal of the Bombay High Court ruled that the gross rashness and negligence of the doctor was the primary reason for the death of his patient Ms Vidhi. Ms Vidhi, a patient of Dr. Sharad Shah had been to his clinic accompanied by her mother for a blood test and was given an injection for her treatment. The patient had complained of vomiting and abdominal pain the next day after which her physical condition began deteriorating. Ms Vidhi had succumbed to her illness on September, 21st 2006.
