The Bombay High Court yesterday directed Maharashtra Government to explain why it has decided to cancel Maharashtra Secondary School Certificate Examination, 2021. The High Court said the move is like making a mockery of the education system. The court also questioned the decision of the State Government to promote the students without exams.<br />'' <br />''The court further added that being the last year of schooling is an important year and hence Maharashtra SSC Exam is also important. The bench noted that despite the second wave of COVID-19 having hit around early April 2021, the state failed to take the decision. The State Government announced the cancellation of the Maharashtra SSC Exam as late as 12th of May.<br />'' <br />''<span style="color: #222222;">The bench further added that the announcement was made without proper planning as the board is yet to provide the evaluation criteria. The HC directed the State Government to file an affidavit explaining why it should not set aside the decision on Maharashtra SSC Exam. Also, explain why the Maharashtra SSC Exam was cancelled and how students will get evaluated in the event of cancellation.</span><br />
