A roadside bomb blew apart a crowded mini bus in Afghanistan's Helmand Province on Thursday killing 14 civilians, including women and children. Authorities blamed Taliban insurgents for the attack which also wounded four people.The blast took place as the vehicle was travelling on a highway to Kandahar city.The United Nations says more than 2400 civilians were killed during the first ten months of this year and it blames insurgents for most of those killings. US State Department expresses concern about reports on disappearances of thousands of political separatists in PakistanThe US State Department has expressed concern about reports that thousands of political separatists have disappeared in Pakistan over the past ten years. The State Department has sent a report on disappearances to the US Congress. The report urges Pakistan to address this and other Human Rights abuses saying the progress so far is very limited. The representative of Human Rights Watch in Pakistan, Ali Hassan said, the latest alarm in the US over reports of disappearances of captured Taliban militants and some of the political separatists is a serious development. The US, he said, should urge Pakistan military to stop such practices
