Bogibeel bridge to be ready by 2015 |

In Assam, the construction of almost 5 Kilometer long rail-cum-road bridge over river Brahmaputra at Bogibeel in Dibrugarh district is likely to be completed by 2015. North East Frontier Railway officials said that the 3200 crore rupee project, which will connect Dibrugarh and Dhemaji district, has so far achieved 68 percent financial target. AIR correspondent reports, the bridge will be a boon for road communication for the people of Upper Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland. Once completed, it will be the fourth and so far, the longest rail-cum-road bridge over Brahmaputra .The Bridge will accommodate two broad gauge tracks and two lane roads. Though, at present, the water level of the Brahmaputra has been increased, construction works of the bridge is underway to some extent. So far, 21 wells and 8 piers out of 42 numbers have been completed. The remaining 10 wells will be taken up from October this year. The target of completion of main bridge structure is set on mid 2013.The bridge will enhanced the scope of mobility for Indian Army and other security forces along with the people of North -Eastern states.
