The bodies of 17 suspected militants have been found in the semi-autonomous Darra Adamkhel tribal region of north-west Pakistan. Officials said all the corpses found yesterday had gunshot wounds and were militants killed during a clash with security forces. But residents said they could have been killed after being captured by troops. The military denies these claims. The bodies were discovered near a school in the Tor Chapar area. Local residents said most of the dead were members of Punjabi militant groups affiliated with the Pakistani Taliban – Tehrik-e-Taliban. Nearly 40 bodies of suspected militants have been found in the region during the past two months.
