Boat service between India and Sri Lanka resumes

India and Sri Lanka have resumed the passenger ferry service between the two countries after a gap of nearly 30 years. The ferry Scotia Prince from Tuticorin reached the Colombo Port today with 200 passengers, including some VIPs. It was flagged off by the Union Shipping Minister G.K. Vasan at Chidambaranar Port in Tuticorin on Monday. The service initially will operate twice-a-week between Colombo and Tuticorin and vice versa. The ferry service will improve cultural tourism and business relations between the two countries.
