In Assam, 20 people were rescued safely after a country boat capsized in Champavati river at Bongaigaon district on Friday. The boat was sailing from Chapar in Dhubri district to Oudubi in Bongagion when it capsized.Talking to AIR, Deputy Commissioner of Bongagaion Santanu Prasad Gotmare said 20 to 25 passengers, along with cattle, were on board the boat. He said though rescue operation was on, no missing report had been registered by any one of the locality after the incident.So, it is likely that all the passengers either swam to safety or have been rescued. The local people said there were around 40 passengers on the ill-fated boat, most of whom were small time businessmen.
