BMS skips central trade unions' proposed strike

Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) today decided to opt out of the central trade unions' proposed strike on Wednesday.<br/><br/>BMS General Secretary Virjesh Upadhyay told AIR that the decision has been taken in view of government's positive assurances on union's basic demands. <br/><br/>He said, strike is not the best way out at present. The BMS' decision to pull out was taken at a meeting of its core committee in New Delhi. <br/><br/>However, the remaining ten trade unions decided to go ahead with their strike. <br/><br/>A high-level group of senior Ministers had met the top union leaders few days back to convince them of withdrawing the strike call and had also promised to look into their various demands including minimum wages, contract labour and social security.
