<span style="color: #222222;">A day after Mumbai reported its highest ever spike of over 5000 new cases of COVID-19, the city's civic body has decided to ramp up its health infrastructure. In a statement, Mumbai's Municipal Commissioner Iqbal Singh Chahal has said that the city is conducting more than 40,000 tests since the last two days and over 80 percent of the patients turning positive are asymptomatic.<br />'' <br />'' Mr. Chahal further said that the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai has decided to increase the total availability of COVID beds in Mumbai from 13,773 to 21,000 COVID beds in the next 15 days. He said the testing is likely to be increased to 60,000 per day and assuming that the new cases turn up in the range of about 10,000 daily, the civic body will be prepared to handle the situation as not more than 15 percent of these patients would be symptomatic and may require institutional care.<br />''<br />''Stating that the civic body was in full control of the situation and confident of controlling the pandemic in time, Mr. Chahal proudly announced that the city has crossed the landmark of 10 lakh vaccinations. Stating that vaccination is the ultimate remedy for ending this pandemic, the commissioner said MCGM plans to vaccinate one lakh people daily in the coming days. Adding that there is no cause for panic, Mr. Chahal however urged citizens to strictly follow COVID appropriate behaviour and help the civic body in controlling this pandemic.</span>
