B'lore school rape case: City police arrest school chairman

Bangalore city police have arrested Vibgyor school chairman Rustom Kerawalla in the six year old girl's rape case.

He was arrested in Daman yesterday and brought to the city today. Kerawalla has been accused under Juvenile Justice Act and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, POCSO Act for an attempt to erase the evidence in the case and for neglecting the incident when parents complained about the incident.

The girl was allegedly raped by two staffers of the school on July 2nd. The incident had triggered large-scale protests in Bangalore.

The Bangalore police has arrested a skating instructor in the case.

The Karnataka State Government has written to the Council of the Indian School Certificate Examinations to cancel the affiliation of Vibgyor School.

The Government had also transferred Bangalore city Police Commissioner Raghavendra Auradkar after wide scale protests over the rape incident.
