In China, a gas blast in a coal mine in the southwestern Guizhou Province left 10 people dead and one injured. A local government official today said the blast occurred last evening in the Guohekou coal mine in Panxian County of the province. Eleven miners were working underground when the explosion took place and one miner survived the blast with arms being burnt. The individually-owned coal mine has an annual capacity of 150,000 tonnes.
