Blast in B'lore-Guwahati Express kills 1, injures 9 at Chennai Central; rail traffic halted, probe on

Two minor blasts took place this morning onboard the Bangalore-Guwahati express, when it was arriving at Platform No. 9 of the Chennai Central Railway Station.

The bombs were planted under the seats of the passengers. One person was killed and 9 injured. They have been admitted to a hospital.

Train services have been halted. Investigations are underway.
The Ministry of Railways has announced an ex-gratia of 1 lakh rupees for the kin of the deceased.

25,000 rupees will be given to the 2 critically injured, and 5,000 rupees to the seven with minor injuries.
