Blast: Assam announces Rs 5-lakh compensation

The Assam Government has announced an ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakh to the next kin of the Central Reserved Police Force (CRPF) personnel killed in Friday’s IED blast at Bhalukdubi in Goalpara district. This was disclosed by the State Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sharma after visiting the blast site. He said Rs 50,000 will be paid to those seriously injured. The CRPF personnel with minor injury will get twenty five thousand rupees. Five CRPF personnel died and 44 other jawans were injured when suspected NDFB militants triggered a powerful IED blast on the bus carrying them from Agiya to Goalpara. 15 critically injured jawans are undergoing treatment in the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital while others have been admitted to the Goalpara Civil Hospital.Meanwhile, top security officials including the Director General of Assam Police Shankar Baruah are camping in the district to supervise the operational strategies against the militants behind the explosion.
