The issue of black money today created uproar in the Lok Sabha as the opposition parties questioned the Narendra Modi-led government of what it has done so far to bring it back.

However, protests continued with agitating members trooping into the well of the House raising slogans.
Talking to reporters outside Parliament, BJP leader and Union Minister Prakash Javadekar said, the government is doing all out efforts to bring back black money. He said Congress is afraid as the Centre is initiating more steps day by day. Replying to a media query on disclosing the names of holders of illegal wealth abroad, Mr Javadekar said the names cannot be disclosed due to the international treaties. .

Meanwhile, political parties came down heavily on the government over the issue. The Congress has demanded apology from Prime Minister Narendra Modi for what it called misleading the country on the black money issue. Criticizing the BJP for adopting double standards over the issue, party spokesman Shakeel Ahmad said, the Modi-led NDA government has failed to bring back the illegal wealth in 100 days.

Briefing media in New Delhi this evening, he also accused the government of not disclosing the names of black money account holders, due to international treaties and Double Taxation Avoidance Agreements.

CPI (M) also attacked the government on black money issue alleging it is not even taking any step to unearth such illegal money within the country. Briefing reporters in New Delhi, party leader Sitaram Yechury said, information on black money and revealing a few names in this regard was a result of pressure from Supreme Court.

He alleged that BJP has misled the people on black money issue as it had promised to bring it back within 100 days. Mr. Yechury also charged the government with not allowing discussion on the issue in Parliament. Samajwadi party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav said, the government has failed on its promise to bring back illegal wealth stashed abroad in hundred days.
