Black Buck case: SC sets aside HC order suspending Salman Khan's conviction

In a setback to actor Salman Khan, the Supreme Court today set aside the Rajasthan High Court order which had kept the actor's conviction in suspension in the 2007 Black Buck case. The bench, headed by Justice S J Mukhopadhyay, remanded the matter back to the High Court for fresh consideration.

The Rajasthan government had approached the apex court challenging the High Court ruling which had in 2013 suspended the actor's conviction to make it easier for him to travel abroad for his shoots. Today's judgement means that the actor will not be able to travel abroad to shoot for his films. Salman was convicted in 2007 for hunting and killing endangered deer while shooting for a film in Rajasthan in 1998. He was sentenced to five years in jail and is currently out on bail.
