BJP's Central Election Committee will meet in New Delhi today, to take a final decision over the electoral alliance with the Telegu Desam Party in Andhra Pradesh. BJP leader Venkaiah Naidu told this to reporters in Hyderabad on Sunday. Stating that the talks over the alliance are not going on satisfactorily, he said that the state leaders from both Telangana and Seemandhra have been asked to get ready for a lone fight during the upcoming general election. However, he said a final call will be taken at the party election committee meeting on Monday.
After many rounds of talks between BJP and Telugu Desam party over the electoral alliance, there is a deadlock prevailed over the number of seats to be adjusted. The possible alliance is crucial for both the parties in the changed political situation in the wake of bifurcation of the state. The alliance is being considered in both Telangana and Seemandhra regions as the new governments will be formed for separate states even as the elections being held in the undivided state. Both the parties have stuck to their stands over the number of seats as the BJP demanding 8 Lok Sabha and 50 Assembly seats in Telangana region while it is expecting 5 Lok Sabha and 25 Assembly seats in Seemandhra region. On the other hand, the TDP leaders are feeling the number is too high.
At one point of time both sides appeared to have given up and prepared to go to polls alone. After several flip-flops the two parties are likely to take a final call over the alliance on Monday only after the interference of the top leaders of both sides including BJP Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi.
