BJP withdraws support to Soren govt in J’khand?

The BJP has decided to withdraw support to the Shibu Soren led government in Jharkhand. The decision was taken at the BJP parliamentary party board meeting in New Delhi. Briefing reporters, Senior party leader Gopinath Munde said Jharkhand party Chief will submit the withdrawal of support letter to the Governor by this evening. He described voting against the cut motions by Shibu Soren as a betrayal. Soren yesterday voted against the cut motions brought by BJP against hike in petroleum and fertiliser prices.<br/><br/>Commenting on the political developments in Jharkhand, the Congress party said it is keeping a close watch on the evolving situation and will not take any decision in haste. <br/><br/>Evading a direct reply on whether the party will support Shibu Soren in formation of new government, party spokesperson Manish Tewari said Soren has voted for political stability and in supreme national interest.<br/><br/>AIR correspondent reports, in the 81 member Jharkhand assembly, JMM has 18 members and the BJP with its allies has 20 seats. Congress has 14 legislators with ally JVM on 11 seats taking its strength up to 25 in the assembly. <br/><br/>The role of 18 members who are independents and from other parties will be crucial in cobbling together a coalition government in this Naxal hit state.
