BJP has welcomed the Supreme Court's observation over the disqualification of ministers facing criminal and corruption charges. Speaking to AIR, BJP spokesperson, Siddharth Nath Singh said that the apex court's observation upholds the supremacy of constitution of India. He also said that Prime Minister is very sensitive on the issue and is pushing for a new law. Congress has said that onus lies with the Prime Minister to respond to Supreme Court's observation that people with criminal background or facing corruption charges should not be made Ministers. Talking to AIR, party leader Manish Tewari said Narendra Modi should take a stand on it and tell the nation whether he agrees with the apex court's view. He said the court has highlighted moral side of governance in its observation. CPI leader, D Raja also endorsed the Supreme court's observation and said that it is will have big impact on Prime Minister and chief ministers who have discretionary power to appoint their ministers. Meanwhile, NCP spokesperson, D P Tripathi said that ministers with criminal charges have no moral right to be part of council of ministers.
