BJP walkout in LS over K'taka drought relief

The Members of the BJP today staged a walk out in the Lok Sabha during the calling attention on severe drought in Karnataka.

They expressed dissatisfaction over the Minister of State for Agriculture Harish Rawat's reply on the measures taken by the government on providing drought relief to Karnataka.

Sharing the concerns of the BJP members, the Minister said an inter-ministerial team to re-assess the situation in the State and the government will consider further financial assistance on receipt of the report of the team. He said a Central Team visited drought affected areas in the State.

The Minister said that the central team had recommended an assistance of over 296 crore rupees and the central government approved an amount of about 187 crore rupees to Karnataka.
