BJP urges EC to make voting process of service voters digital

BJP has urged Election Commission to make the voting process of service voters digital so that they can cast their votes in elections through e-postal ballot and send them back electronically.

Currently, they get the ballot papers through electronic transfer but after marking their voting preferences they have to send the filled-up ballots back to their returning officers by post which consumes considerable time.

A party delegation comprising Union Ministers J P Nadda and Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi today met the Commission in New Delhi over the issue.

Talking to reporters after the meeting, Mr. Nadda said, the poll body has assured that it will look into the matter taking all political parties into confidence.

Mr. Nadda said the delegation also raised the issue of low voter turn out of service voters in the recently held assembly elections in UP, Goa and Uttrakhand and urged the poll body to organize sensitization campaign for them.
