BJP today accuses NCSC Chairman P L Punia of politicising the Commission

BJP today accused National Commission for Scheduled Castes, NCSC, Chairman P L Punia of politicising the Commission over the recent incident of killing of two Dalit children in Haryana. Briefing reporters in New Delhi, party spokesperson Bizay Sonkar Shastri alleged that Mr. Punia is working as the Congress spokesperson even though he is holding a constitutional post. He said the Commission has become non-functional under his Chairmanship and it has not been able to provide justice to the people of the community.<br/><br/>Mr. Shastri charged the opposition parties of playing politics over the incident saying it was a case of personal enmity but the parties are giving a colour of caste conflict to it. He said Haryana government has taken prompt action against the culprits and eight people have been arrested so far.<br/><br/>The BJP spokesperson also attacked Ms Mayawati for criticising the centre and state governments on the incident and said BSP Chief has been exposed on Dalit issues, as she has done nothing for the betterment of the community.<br/><br/>On Union Minister General V K Singh's controversial remarks over the incident, he said the comment was unfortunate but the Minister has already clarified and expressed regret.
