A crucial meeting will be held by BJP this evening in Mumbai to discuss the seat sharing issue for the upcoming assembly polls in Maharashtra. This meeting will be attended by Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari. According to BJP sources, Mr Gadkari has apprised Prime Minister Narendra Modi of the situation regarding the seat sharing issue between BJP and Shiv Sena.
BJP gave Shiv Sena an ultimatum yesterday to take a final call on the seat-sharing issue. However, Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut told reporters in Mumbai that it would not obey anybody’s ultimatum and the final decision will be taken by Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray.
In an emergency meeting of Shiv Sena leaders which was held yesterday, they authorised Uddhav Thackeray to take a final call on the seat-sharing issue with the BJP.
Even after a series of high level meeting in the past few days, there has been no breakthrough in seat sharing talks between the Shiv Sena and the BJP.
While the BJP sent a fresh proposal to Shiv Sena demanding 130 seats, Shiv Sena has rejected the same stating that they would not part with more than 119 seats.
