BJP President Amit Shah today steered clear of controversies like Ram temple and uniform civil code as he indicated that the party will fight the Uttar Pradesh assembly polls on development plank.

Briefing media in New Delhi, he wondered how the opposition is accusing his party of causing communal polarisation ahead of the UP polls early next year. He chose to stick to the narrative of the central government's pro-poor and pro-farmers work as he faced a volley of questions on BJP's stand on controversial issues.

Replying to a question about reported armed training being given by Bajrang Dal in parts of UP, he said the state government should take action if there is anything unlawful.

On a query, Mr. Shah said, there will be a reshuffle in Union Cabinet, but a date is not certain. There has been speculation for some time now about reshuffle in the union cabinet, which was fueled by an hour long meeting that Prime Minister Narendra Modi held with Mr Shah last week.
