BJP will celebrate Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan's birth anniversary as Loktantra Raksha Diwas across the country today. The main programme will be held in New Delhi where Prime Minister Narendra Modi will take part. 800 leaders who were put behind bars during Emergency will be felicitated during the function. <br/><br/>Party President Amit Shah will participate in a function at Sitab Diara in Bihar, the birth place of Lok Nayak. Programmes will also be organised in state capitals which will be attended by state BJP leaders and Chief Ministers of party ruled states. Senior party leader and Union Minister Venkaiah Naidu told media in New Delhi that the functions will highlight the struggle of JP and his role during emergency. He said emergency was a black chapter of Indian democracy and the young generation should be aware of who were behind the the draconian measures to throttle democracy.
