BJP-TDP hold a series of talks on seat sharing in Seemandra region

In Andhra Pradesh, discussions are being held again between the top leaders of BJP and Telugu Desam in Hyderabad over the seat sharing as differences between the two parties came to the fore within a few days of forging an electoral alliance.

BJP leader Prakash Javadekar held a series of talks with TDP President Chandrababu Naidu since last evening. The main focus reportedly remained on change of constituencies allotted to BJP in Seemandhra region as part of the alliance between the two parties.

Following resentment from the cadres against allotment of certain Assembly seats to BJP, the TDP President had given indicators that the party may consider fighting election in Seemandhra region alone. Javadekar rushed to Hyderabad last evening and the negotiations over the electoral ties between the two sides have begun afresh. The TDP reportedly sought 6 Assembly constituencies from BJP in exchange of one more Lok Sabha seat in East and West Godavari districts.

Though the alliance was formalised after prolonged parleys over the number of seats to be shared, the TDP cadres expressed worry that the BJP is putting up weak candidates. The BJP was given 5 Lok Sabha and 15 Assembly seats in Seemandhra region initially, the national party later gave up Araku Lok Sabha seat to the TDP.
