BJP targetting PM on coal issue is politically motivated: Cong Prez Sonia Gandhi

Congress President Mrs. Sonia Gandhi has categorically said that BJP targeting the Prime Minister on the coal issue is entirely politically motivated. Addressing Congress Parliamentary Party meeting in New Delhi this morning, she said that the Prime Minister's detailed and comprehensive statement on the issue in Parliament has exposed the false propaganda of BJP. She said that the Prime Minister and the Government are always ready for debate and discuss any CAG Report or any perceived shortcomings. But the proper forum for this is an active and involved Parliament but not the one which is held to ransom by blackmail which has become the political bread and butter of the BJP. Mrs. Gandhi also asked her colleagues to stand up and fight aggressively with a sense of purpose as the party is entering a period
in which elections will consume much of the time.
She said UPA is sincerely trying for a consensus both within the UPA and with other political parties, as many economic policies require larger political understanding and agreement. Mrs. Gandhi commented that in a democracy, dialogue, debate and discussion is the only way forward. She appealed to the opposition, specially the principal opposition party BJP to come forth and show a sense of responsibility.
Referring to the Assam violence, Mrs Gandhi said that strictest possible action must be taken against those who deliberately seek to divide and incite the people. News Content
