BJP sweeps MCD polls

The BJP has swept Municipal Corporations elections of Delhi, by winning 138 seats out of the 272 seats in the trifurcated body. Congress has bagged 78 seats while BSP has got 15 seats and others including independent, have got 41 seats.

The BJP claimed that the victory in the Delhi Municipal Corporations' election is a result of its good governance in the civic body. Talking to reporters in New Delhi yesterday, party President Nitin Gadkari termed the result as a clear indicator of the mood prevalent in the national capital.

The congress leader Kapil Sibal on the other hand said that corruption cast its shadow on BJP's performance in the MCD elections, adding that it is below expectations.
